5 tips for being pregnant in the summer
Are you due to give birth during the summer months or just afterwards? Being pregnant in the summer can be very challenging, especially if it's one of those super summers that you always hope for (except maybe when you're pregnant…). We've gathered 5 tips on how to get through the summer while pregnant and still feel pretty okay!
5 Tips for Being Pregnant in the Summer
1. Set up a pool or go to the beach
Cooling off in the water is magical. In the water, you are also weightless, which can feel very nice as "the heaviness" disappears for a while. If you can't get to the beach, set up a pool. If you don't have space for that, maybe a cold foot bath or an ice pack is enough to cool you down? Our gel pack works both as a heat pad and an ice pack and is fantastic for cooling down during warm months. Read more about our gel pack here: Plume ice pack and heat pad
2. Moisturize your body in the evening
When you are pregnant, your skin stretches and hormones change. This, combined with heat, can make your body itch. Moisturize with a hydrating cream in the evening or after a day in the sun to relieve the itching.
3. Wear thin compression socks
Compression socks are really good for you when you're pregnant. They reduce swollen legs and provide even pressure. Compression socks come in various types, and during the summer, nylon compression socks that are a bit thinner are particularly suitable.
4. Wear thin and loose clothing
The best thing is to cover your body from the sun, but it gets so hot! Opt for a summer wardrobe with thin, oversized garments like dresses and shirts.
5. Drink plenty of water
In the summer, everyone needs to drink a little extra because of the heat. When you're pregnant, you should already be drinking a bit more from the start, so during the summer, it's especially important to drink water as a pregnant woman. Water helps you feel less hot and reduces swelling. We've developed our own great water bottle with a straw, making it easy to remember to drink water.
