```How long should you use your ice pad/heat cushion?
Our recommendation is to use your ice pad/heat cushion for a maximum of 20 minutes at a time, followed by at least a 30-minute break. Pay attention to how it feels against the perineum or other body parts and take a break when needed.
How do you place the ice pad/heat cushion?
The cushion should always be placed in its cover before use and then placed directly against the desired area. The cover is designed to protect the skin from becoming too hot/cold. You do not need to use any maternity pad, pantyliner, or anything else in between.
Won't there be blood/lochia on the cover?
There may be blood/lochia on both the cover and the cushion, but that’s not a problem. The cushion can be easily cleaned with water and mild soap, and the cover can be washed at 40 degrees. Since you should only use your ice pad/heat cushion for short periods, a tip is to use it when you are lying down and, for example, resting for a while. There will be less blood or lochia than when you are standing/walking around. You also receive two covers with the product so you can easily switch between them when one needs washing.
Swollen Genitals During Pregnancy
When you are pregnant, your body prepares itself for giving birth nine months later. This means that everything is affected and changes. Hormones can cause your breasts to become tender, and as the baby grows in your belly, you gain some weight. Something that many suffer from both during and after pregnancy is a swollen vulva, hemorrhoids, and general body pain. The swelling in the vulva is partly due to the uterus pressing against the large blood vessels in the pelvis. After childbirth, the vulva usually returns to its normal shape, but it remains tender and swollen for a while afterwards.
To reduce swelling in the vulva during pregnancy and afterwards, a good tip is to place an ice pad in your underwear. Put our Plume Gel Pack in the freezer for a while and then place the ice pad directly in your underwear or on top of your pants!

However, it is not only during pregnancy or after childbirth that it can be comforting to use a heating pad or ice pad. Even before and during menstruation, changes occur in the body, and it is common to experience pain in the back, lower back, or lower abdomen. A heating pad can then be placed on the area that is sore for a relaxing effect. It also works just as well to reduce pain from postpartum discharge!
Sore Breasts and Engorgement
It's not just the belly that grows during pregnancy. The breasts swell and prepare for milk production. The milk ducts grow and the alveoli increase. This can make the breasts feel tight or itchy. After childbirth, you may also suffer from milk stasis. This occurs when the milk ducts become clogged, preventing the milk from flowing properly.
